Lauren Peterson

M.S., BC-DMT, RYT-200

I am a board certified dance/movement therapist based in Chattanooga, TN. Twenty years ago I began working with trauma survivors and have focused the last decade on the eating disorder and substance use disorder fields. I am trained in S.A.F.E. EMDR, Embodied Recovery, yoga, and several forms of dance. While I strongly relates to people who feel awkward dancing, I wish everyone could experience the healing potential of movement. I am president of the Southern Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association. As a creative arts therapist, I use my creativity in dance, producing The Road: Exploring Healing and Recovery through the Arts, developing my embodiment coaching business, and taking cat pics.

I help individual adults dealing with anxiety, depression, self-harm, PTSD, complex trauma, life transitions, grief & loss, and self-esteem/body image issues. I have specialized experience and training in helping people recovering from disordered eating and substance use; I also enjoy helping people improve their relationship with movement, access creativity to get out of “stuckness,” and decrease physiological burnout symptoms. I am trained in S.A.F.E. E.M.D.R. for trauma therapy, Embodied Recovery, yoga, and several forms of dance; I am a board-certified dance/movement therapist.
